Fin stabilization control
The fin stabilization system is the most reliable and consolidated system to reduce the rolling motion, that, depending on the type of ship, has a large influence on the on-board comfort and safety of the load. The system operation is based on the ability to change the angle of incidence of the fins, which act as airplane wings, so as to create a righting moment opposite to that due to wave motion. The change of the angle of incidence is carried out through a system of electronically controlled hydraulic actuator.
The system includes a bridge control panel, an ECR control panel with the main stabilization control electronics, and a control box in each fin site. The information displayed on the control panels, using touch screen technology, are the distributed in the following pages:
- FINS to show the fin system status
- SPEED to check and set the ship speed source to be used.
